I will edit post if anything goes wrong after a month. So far so good :) In the meantime I loved the handy gadget so much that I'm going to buy one. I only just bought this one so I've only tested it once making soup but it was smooth and easy to wash (in the dishwasher). The only con, which is a minor one, is that it's a bit noisier than my old Phillips (I live in Europe and bought this one for my mother). Keep in mind the casing is plastic (although it looks like brushed stainless), however the blade portion is metal and removeable.
